Poem: Vanity of Vanities

There comes a breaking point
In the journey of one’s life
Whereby they choose either
To be content with themselves
Or strive for the ideal self.
In both cases, it seems to me
Vanity of vanities
and chasing after the wind.
For goals may be reached.
Accomplishments celebrated.
But at the end of the day
The lazy and the ambitious
Are destined for the grave.
Forgotten in the infinite cosmos
Never to achieve perfection.
So then, is there hope?
Is there meaning for us mortals?
Only if perspectives change
When one decides to reject
Glorifying themselves
And chase after the One who
Has forever been perfection.
