Haiku: Guiding Lights

We are guiding lights

To number days and seasons.

But God is the source.

The stars can tell us much about time and seasons. For instance, the sun is a star. We know that it takes the earth 365 days to revolve around the sun to complete a year.

Another example is Orion’s belt, which are a constellation of stars that are visible during mid-winter. During the early part of January, this constellation rises east around 6:00 p.m. and then sets to the west around 6:00 a.m.

While these “guiding lights” can help us navigate through time, it can’t tell us who we are as individuals. Only God is the source for that. He is our ultimate guiding light. We are created in His image. Unlike the stars, we have a conscience and freedom of the will. That is why God is our ultimate source.
