Psalm 93: Praying Through The Psalms

The Lord reigns, and he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity (Ps. 93:1-2).

Heavenly Father, you exercise sovereign rule over the entire universe. Your steadfast love and mercy is evident in the created order. You are seated on your royal throne—robed in majesty, power, and wisdom. Please, hear our cry now for righteousness to be fully established here on earth. The world is broken and in need of your healing power.

Sovereign King, the world is established, firm, and secure because of you. The earth rotates around the sun, the waves stop at shore, and the mountains tremble before your holiness. For your throne was established long ago, before anything was made.

From everlasting to everlasting, you are God. Therefore, come and heal the nations. Bring peace to the earth by establishing justice for those who do evil. Allow virtue to speedily triumph over vice. Give us the boldness to speak truth in love.

The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea—the Lord on high is mighty (Ps. 93:3-4).

Prince of peace—the seas lift up their voice. The seas lift up their pounding waves, but their strength is no match for you. The sea was created by the words of your command. When you took on human flesh, all you did was raise your hand, and the winds and the waves obeyed you.

For your power is infinitely greater than the creation. No matter how great the thunder. No matter how strong the breakers of the sea get, you Lord are mightier than these. Therefore, let us shelter in you when the storms of life appear. When calamity strikes, help us to find our way back home to you. Please Lord, hear our cry and restore our broken hearts. We desperately need your compassion and grace in this very hour.

Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days (Ps. 93:5).

Almighty God, you are holy, holy, holy. There is no one like you. For you are the Creator and Potter. We are the creation and the clay. Your perfect in holiness and righteousness and we are unholy and unrighteous. Lord, be gracious and compassionate to us. Blot out our transgressions. Make us holy, as you are holy. Then our holiness will shine in the midst of a dark culture.

Impute righteousness to us through your Son, Jesus. May we be clothed in Christ so that we will be able to see your holiness face to face. Guide us by your Holy Spirit and lead us to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit. Your holiness adorns your house for endless days and we anticipate the day we are able to dwell with you forevermore. As we live each day, nourish us by your comforting words and strengthen us with the commandments of Scripture. We give you all the praise, glory, and honor. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
