Psalm 28: Praying Through The Psalms

To you, Yahweh, I call. My rock, don’t be deaf to me, lest, if you are silent to me, I would become like those who go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I lift up my heads toward your Most Holy Place (Ps. 28:1-2, WEB).

Heavenly Father, you are the solid rock on which I stand. Without you, I am sinking sand. Hear my cry and protect me from the lusts of the flesh. Do not let me become entrapped by the snares of this world; preserve me from the pit of destruction.

I petition for you to save me. I cry out for you to focus my attention to your Most Holy Place. Remind me to meditate on your holiness so that I will be convicted of sin and live a righteous life. For my hope is found in you.

Don’t draw me away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts. Give them according to their work, and according to the wickedness of their doings. Give them according to the operation of their hands. Bring back on them what they deserve (Ps. 28:3-4).

Dear Lord, keep me safe from the wicked. Give me the power to overcome the temptations that lure us into the mischief and evil works of this world. Ignite in me a true peace that comes from your Holy Spirit.

Rescue me from sin. Renew a right spirit in me. Forgive me for my past sins and give me hope. For I need you Lord. I need you to draw me to your grace and steadfast mercy.

Because they don’t respect the works of Yahweh, nor the operation of his hands, he will break them down and not build them up. Blessed be Yahweh, because he has heard the voice of my petitions. (Ps. 28:5-6).

Sovereign King, you deserve honor and respect. For you created the whole world by your power and mighty right hand. Those who speak against your holiness will be put to shame. You will break them down and not build them up.

As creatures, we are the clay and you are the potter. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to you. Blessed be your holy name. For you deserve to be worshipped and esteemed for all your marvelous works. Thanks for hearing the voice of my petitions.

Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him. Yahweh is their strength. He is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed. Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever (Ps. 28: 7-9).

Everlasting Father, you are my strength and my shield. Some trust in money or possessions to give them security, but those things are fleeting. Materialism can never satisfy our need for security. Only you, O God, give us the comfort and provisions we need to live.

I will use my voice to praise your name. My heart will rejoice in your wonderful love. You are my strength and my rock. Salvation belongs in you alone. O Lord, save us from this dark world. Bless us and anoint us as your children. For you have given us an eternal inheritance and you will be the Shepherd of our souls forevermore. Amen.
