Psalm 95: Praying Through The Psalms

O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms (Psalms 95:1-2)

Heavenly Father, you are the rock of our salvation—a firm foundation by which we stand. We use our voices to give you glory. The Hebrew word for singing joyfully is נָ֝רִ֗יעָה (nariah), which means to shout in triumph. There is victory in your powerful name. No matter how difficult circumstances in life become, we can always trust in you, our rock and redeemer.

For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods, in whose hand are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for it was He who made it, and His hands formed the dry land (Psalms 95:3-5).

Everlasting God, you are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. You are our Creator. We are your creation. Our entire life is contingent upon your mercy and grace. You hold the entire universe in your hands—the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains, and the oceans all belong to you.

Holy Lord, you are the potter and we are the clay. You molded and fashioned the world by your infinite wisdom. You breathed into our nostrils the breath of life, and we became living beings. Praise be to your glorious name.

Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel down before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you would hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers tested me, they tried me, though they had seen my work (Psalms 95:6-9).

Creator God, it is noble and good for us to worship and bow down before you. The Hebrew word for bowing down, וְנִכְרָ֑עָה, illustrates one who kneels in reverence, sinking down to one’s knees. This verb declares you as the sovereign king and Lord over our lives.
