Haiku Poem: Summer Fireflies

Summer fireflies

Competing with stars above

In the deep wet woods.

When I think of summer, the first thing that comes to my mind are fireflies glowing in the starry night. They are beautiful creatures. Their bioluminescence ability is a wonderful sight to see.

In fact, their exquisite gift competes with the stars. The stars are lofty and great. They are mysterious and far away, yet seem to be so close, like just a few miles in the sky. But in reality, the closest star (not including our sun) is 4.2 light-years away. That’s 24 trillion miles!

The other picture that helps encapsulate the scenery of stars and fireflies is a forest. We know a forest is filled with these creatures. They love wet places like marshes and deep woods. I wanted to paint this picture in my mind through this Haiku poem. Thanks for reading.
