As I sit down every night to read bedtime stories to my son Nolan, our ritual always includes a few books from his cherished collection. Among them is a book about volcanoes, a topic that never fails to ignite his imagination.
As we delve into the pages filled with fiery eruptions and molten lava flows, Nolan’s eyes light up with wonder and excitement. He eagerly points out every detail, exclaiming, “There’s lava!” or “Look, that’s hot!” It’s a joy to see my son learn and be amazed at God’s creation.
Intrigued by his fascination, I find myself drawn into the intricate design of these natural wonders. The more we explore, the more I am reminded of the profound beauty and complexity of God’s creation.
One volcano, in particular, captures our attention—Old Faithful. This geyser, located in Yellowstone National Park, erupts more than 15 times a day with remarkable predictability. Its steadfastness and reliability stand as a testament to the faithfulness of God.
Scripture tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Just as Old Faithful faithfully erupts, God’s love and mercy are unwavering, ever-present in our lives. He listens to our prayers, never forgetting us in our times of need. Reflecting on Nolan’s fascination with volcanoes, I am reminded of the steadfastness of God’s character.
