Psalm 135: Praying Through The Psalms

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we gather in prayer, our hearts are lifted in reverence and awe of Your mighty works, just as Psalm 135 invites us to do. We come before You with gratitude for Your unwavering love and steadfast presence in our lives.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude because we don’t deserve your steadfast love. Our thoughts haven’t always been aligned with your word and will. May we repent of our sinful tendencies and allow the Holy Spirit to fill our minds.

Lord, we praise You for your sovereignty, for You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Your power and authority extend beyond our comprehension, yet You graciously invite us into a relationship with You. May we approach You with humility, recognizing that our lives are in Your hands.

For humility comes from the Hebrew word “humus” which means from the dust. The dust is a reminder of our mortality and frailty. We are not immortal like you, O God. Every breath we take is a gift from you. May we cherish that in humility.

In moments of doubt, help us to remember the words of Psalm 135:6, “The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.” Grant us the wisdom to trust in Your perfect plan, even when circumstances seem unclear.

You never said life would be easy. There are circumstances that throw us off course, but we continue to fix our eyes on Jesus, the one who is running the race for us. Give us confidence to trust in your perfect plan.

Lord, we lift up our voices in thanks for Your faithfulness throughout generations. Your love endures forever, and we find comfort in knowing that Your promises are true. May we be a people who continually seek Your guidance and follow Your righteous ways.

In times of trial, may the words of Psalm 135:14 resonate in our hearts: “For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.” Strengthen us, O Lord, and may we find refuge in Your unfailing love.

God, you are the ultimate refuge. Everyone around us will fail, including our own hearts, but you never fail and are always a refuge in life’s storms. May we trust in you for our comfort and peace and not run to the world to find fleeting satisfaction.

As we navigate the challenges of life, let us not forget to give thanks for the simple blessings that surround us. Your grace is evident in every sunrise, in the laughter of loved ones, and in the beauty of creation. Open our eyes to appreciate the wonders of Your handiwork.

Redeemer, your creation tells the story of your love. You remind us everyday that you are here for us. Your mercies are new every morning. We praise you for this glorious truth. The The T

Lord, we conclude this prayer with a heart full of praise, echoing the psalmist’s words, “Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore” (Psalm 135:1-2). May our lives be a testament to Your glory.

In the name of Jesus, we pray.

Amen.
