Standing at the brink of a challenging 15-mile swim event last month, I found myself contemplating how much had changed since my college years. During that period, I used to swim daily, but nearly twenty years had elapsed since those carefree times. Nevertheless, I felt a strong urge to test my limits, not just for personal growth but also to provide support to our honored veteran heroes through the Wounded Warrior Project.
It all began with a wake-up call from my doctor, who revealed that my cholesterol levels were high. It was a stark reminder that my health needed a serious overhaul. Determined to make a change, I embarked on this ambitious swimming journey, hoping to raise both my cardiovascular fitness and funds for a noble cause.
I started off strong, eager to make a difference. But life, as it often does, had other plans for me. In the middle of the month, illness struck, sidelining me for a week. Then, a hurricane roared through, shutting down the local pool, and further delaying my progress. Challenges seemed to be stacking up, but quitting was not an option.
