Hello everybody! We live in tremendous technological times where the blend of AI and human intelligence are difficult to discern. You can simply ask ChatGPT to create a sermon, outline, an essay, or give you even script ideas on how to run a successful Christian YouTube channel. The sky truly is the limit.
Not only is ChatGPT able to write these messages, but it’s able to do so with a type of flavor that almost mimics a true human person. However, as believers, we understand that the Holy Spirit is a vital component to sermon prepping and is uniquely set aside for humans created in the image of God.
That being the case, is it possible for people to differentiate a sermon created by a born-again Christian versus a sermon devised by artificial intelligence? I would like to believe it’s possible because of the Imago Dei, but when I see the output of ChatGPT, it’s uncanny how clearly it can articulate the gospel message with biblical depth and conviction.
Just read this request I gave ChatGPT and let me know what you think. My input was the following: “Create a 30 second sermon mimicking Jonathan Edwards.” This is the output below:
