Praying Through Psalm 37

Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb (Ps. 37:1-2)

Heavenly Father, you protect us from evil. Remind us not to be worried about evildoers or envious of what they have. We know that the righteous shall live by faith, but the wicked will fade away like the morning dew. Also, you have called us to love our enemies. If they persecute us, let’s show love in return. If they slander us, may we offer peace and reconciliation.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart (Ps. 37:3-4).

O Lord, I have memorized this verse since first becoming a believer. When we delight in you and allow you to become the Lord of our lives, you will give us the desires of our heart. Amazingly, our desires will align with yours. Because all who trust in you desire to transform into your image and likeness. All who are born again delight in the Lord and obey His commands. Keep us on the narrow path that leads to life, and protect us from the broad way that leads to destruction. May we dwell in your holy land forever.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as noonday (Ps. 37:5-7).

Heavenly Father, we commit to your ways. We trust in you. Forgive us of our transgressions. Lead us into your righteous path. May your Holy Spirit guide and teach us how to trust and delight in you. Your justice is as sure as the noonday. Your justice will reign forever. Even when things aren’t going as planned, may we believe that you will one day make all things right. For you are a good King.
